Exercising with multiple children is less complicated if you use a double jogger.
The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger is a top-seller for many active parents. If you’re unsure about the product, I did a thorough review of the product to address all its key features, pros, and cons.
Let’s learn more about double joggers and then get into the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger.
Things to Consider Before Buying a Double Jogging Stroller
For active mothers and fathers of two children close in age or twins, a double jogger is a lifesaver.
Due to their size, they can be cumbersome if you only have a single child, so it’s best to leave these to parents of multiples.
Before you buy one, there are certain features you should consider that may help you narrow down your options.
Wheels
The wheels are perhaps the biggest difference between the common stroller and a jogger.
On a jogger, the wheels should be larger than standard strollers so they can navigate the outdoors better.
The front wheel should have swivel and locking capabilities too. Swiveling helps you maneuver around obstacles and corners, and the lock comes into play when you’re going at a steady, straight pace.
Traction
If you know you’ll be on a simple, stress-free run in a typical neighborhood, joggers with smooth tires and minimal ridges might be easier to use.
However, those of you jogging on uneven terrain like dirt paths, tires with deep-set ridges grip the surface better.
Seats
You’ll have a better time outdoors knowing your kids are both safe and comfortable, and that starts with the seats.
A jogger with multi-position reclining seats allow you to set them up according to their comfort level.
Of course, take a look at the safety aspect. Quality seats feature a harness, usually a five-point, to ensure the security of your child.
Ease of Use
User-friendly features help take away the stress so you and your children can enjoy the outdoors.
A canopy, for instance, keeps the sun out of their little faces. It’s more helpful if it features a peek-a-boo window so you can keep an eye on them at all times.
Also consider storage needs. A basket can hold all their items, while a parent tray can store small things like a phone and keys. It’s more useful if it has a cup holder too.
When you’re all finished, the jogger should collapse or fold up compact enough that you can easily store it away.
Introducing the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger
Also known as the Expedition EX, the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger is a straightforward double jogging stroller.
It features side-by-side seating, a swivel and locking front wheel, collapsible design, and separate storage areas.
This resembles the other Expedition Double Jogger from Baby Trend, but it differs in available color designs as well as the maximum and minimum weight it can support.
The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger manages children that weigh up to 50lbs and as little as 15lbs.
Pros
- Separate storage baskets and seat pockets
- Lightweight and folds up easily
- Seats recline in multiple positions
- Withstands bumps and maneuvers well
Cons
- Too wide to fit through standard doorways
- Doesn’t support car seats
- Parent tray feels low-quality and flimsy
Features & Benefits of the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger
The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger has several quality features parents with multiple children can appreciate.
Composite Wheels
The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger features three lightweight composite wheels.
There are two large pneumatic bicycle tires. They offer adequate traction for various terrains.
In front is the smaller swivel wheel so you can navigate around. You can just as easily lock it to keep the wheel in place as you jog a straight path.
Side-by-Side Seats
Your children are kept next to each other on the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger, but there’s still enough space so that they each have room.
Both seats recline in multiple positions, and you can adjust them independently according to each child’s needs.
Each seat can accommodate a child up to 50lbs in weight, and with the footrest, the seats can fit height-wise up to 42in.
There’s also a one-piece canopy you can adjust and peer through thanks to the peek-a-boo window. Rather than the plastic-like window many strollers feature, this jogger has mesh-like netting that offers breeze from above for your kids.
Alternatively, you can cover the window up instead with the flap.
Storage Options
The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger features multiple storage options.
Some parents feel that the baskets aren’t deep enough. However, they seem to have enough space to hold a large stuffed animal with ease, so that might provide more than enough room to carry a few items.
Also, each seat does have a storage basket underneath. This may help you bring more items or separate your children’s things.
If you need more room, each seat features a deep mesh pocket. You can slip the likes of wipes or small toys inside. They may even be used as cup holders (depending on the size of the cup or bottle) considering there’s no child tray available.
Parents aren’t left out of the storage options. Near the handlebar is a tray just for you. It’s out of the way yet still easy for you to reach as you’re on-the-go.
There’s a small covered compartment in the center that you can drop keys or your cell phone inside. On either side of that are cup holders.
Collapsible Design
Although the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger has trouble fitting through standard doorframes considering its width, you can simply collapse it to take it in and out as well as to store when you’re not using it.
It weighs just over 30lbs so it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to pick up and carry.
Also, the wheels feature a quick-release option so you can pack up the jogger fast.
Safety Mechanisms
As mentioned before, you can lock and unlock the front wheel of the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger to adapt to your travels. This helps you maintain control no matter what environment you face.
Alongside that, there’s a foot-activated rear brake that takes minimum pressure to activate.
To secure your child, each seat features a five-point harness that you can adjust independently.
Solid Construction
The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger is made from quality metal, plastic, and polyester.
Plastic parts such as the parent tray and footrest feature BPA-free material.
The pneumatic bicycle wheels are well-made also and can withstand abuse from bumps and uneven surfaces.
When it comes to the handle, it features material on it that feels closer to the rubber on a bicycle tire. It lets you have a good grip and doesn’t wear down or flake compared to the foam material on most stroller handles.
Color Options
If you care about personalizing your baby gear, then you can check out the various color options the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger has to offer.
You can find it in Carbon (light gray and green), Elixir (gray and purple), and Griffin (all-black).
What Others Think of the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger
A major part of my research into the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger was finding the experience and thoughts shared by parents just like you who use it on a day-to-day basis.
After scrounging around the internet, I discovered a handful of positive, unbiased reviews that may shed some more light on the double jogging stroller:
- Emily spoke highly about how easy the stroller folds and unfolds, while also praising the multiple reclining levels to suit children of different ages and sizes. She did mention some assembly issues as well as problems with the width and the lack of a child tray.
- V Hanline praised how easy the stroller is to push single-handedly as well as how well-made and comfortable the handlebar is.

Alternatives to the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger
Perhaps the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger isn’t the double jogging stroller your family needs. In that case, there’s no need to worry as I’ve discovered three alternatives you may want to check out instead.
Thule Urban Glide 2 Jogging Stroller
The Thule Urban Glide 2 Jogging Stroller is an all-terrain double jogger that has many similar features to the Expedition EX, such as reclining seats, side-by-side seating, swivel front wheel, and a canopy with a peek-a-boo window. You can remove the wheels and collapse it compact for storage too.
The Thule Urban Glide 2 Jogging Stroller does hold a larger maximum weight at 100lbs, but it is also far more expensive and lacks a parent tray.
Thule Urban Glide 2 vs. Expedition EX Double Jogger
- Separate adjustable canopies on each seat
- Handlebar brake
- Holds a car seat adapter
- Large cargo bin storage
- One-color design
- Adjustable handlebar
Joovy Zoom X2
As a lightweight jogger, the Joovy Zoom X2 is easy to maneuver and features a quick one-hand fold for storage. Like the Expedition EX Double Jogger, this has side-by-side seats and a canopy. There’s no peek-a-boo window though.
There is a parent tray with cup holders and a covered compartment, and there are also mesh pockets on the seats of the Joovy Zoom X2. The front wheel swivels and locks, but unlike the Expedition EX, this is costly.
Joovy Zoom X2 vs. Expedition EX Double Jogger
- Lightweight, slim frame
- Multi-position, separated canopies

phil&teds Dot Compact Inline City Stroller
This phil&teds Dot Compact Inline City Stroller features puncture-proof tires best for city terrain. It stands out against the Expedition EX Double Jogger by looks alone as it’s a tandem stroller design rather than side-by-side twin seating.
The phil&teds Dot Compact Inline City Stroller only features a canopy for the main seat, but it doesn’t have a peek-a-boo window. This is a more expensive option too, but it folds compact and fits through tight spaces. The wheels aren’t as large though.

- Adjustable handle
- Newborn-ready design
- Slim, narrow design to fit through doorways
- Two colors
- Low maximum weight (44lbs)
