Performance Lab SPORT Protein Review: A Rice Protein Better Than Whey For Muscle Building?

Performance Lab® SPORT Made to perform

There are countless protein powder supplements on the market and all of them claim to be the best.

You know that they can’t all be the best, so it’s important to do a lot of research before choosing one.

In my search for the best protein supplements I could find, I came across SPORT Protein by Performance Lab.

This is one of the cleanest and highest-quality protein powders out there.

This review will tell you all the reasons that you should give Performance Lab SPORT Protein a try.

Things to Consider Before Buying Protein Supplements

The protein supplement industry is incredibly competitive.

These manufacturers might tell you anything to get you to buy their product.

That’s why you need to scrutinize everything about the supplement.

Ingredients

Make sure you take a good look at the list of ingredients used in the protein supplement.

You’ll want to make sure that protein is the main ingredient. If it’s a product that’s supposed to be 100% pure protein, then protein should be the only ingredient.

You’ll also want to pay attention to the percent Daily Value number – how much of your daily recommended amount of protein will the supplement provide.

If this is a low percentage, it may not be worth it to buy the supplement.

Labels

Manufacturers put so many labels on their products.

Organic, non-GMO, and GMP certified are some popular labels you may see.

You may also see soy-free, gluten-free, vegan, and more.

You must be careful because labels can sometimes be misleading.

One of the biggest misleading labels is the organic label.

Manufacturers can label their products as organic if at least 70% of the ingredients are organic.

That means you’re still getting up to 30% inorganic ingredients!

If you want a true, pure organic product, look for a USDA Certified Organic label.

This lets you know that the crop has been inspected by the USDA and is guaranteed to be completely organic.

Price

When it comes to buying protein supplements, don’t get caught up on the price.

The price of supplements can be widely varied, and a high price doesn’t necessarily mean a better product.

Instead, pay attention to the labels and ingredients and let price be a secondary factor in your choice.

You might even want to make it the third or fourth most important deciding factor.

SPORT Protein by Performance Lab

Now that you know what to look for in a protein supplement, I can introduce you to Performance Lab SPORT Protein.

This is one protein powder that has labels you can trust.

It’s made from USDA certified organic Oryzatein® brown rice protein.

To make it even better, they only get their brown rice from the world’s best organic rice farms (not including China).

Pros

  • It’s completely, 100% organic.
  • It contains more minerals than typical protein powder supplements.
  • It’s slightly lower in calories than typical protein powder supplements.
  • It’s suitable for all special types of diets.

Cons

  • It’s a bit pricey compared to the market average.
  • Not a great source of vitamins.

Features and Benefits of Performance Lab SPORT Protein

Performance Lab SPORT Protein 3

Performance Lab SPORT Protein is the real deal.

It’s high-quality and every label they have on the bottle can be verified with a quick inspection of the ingredients list.

The most important label, organic, is certified by the USDA so you can be confident that you’re getting a product with all organic ingredients.

Suitable for All Types of Special Diets

This is probably the most marketable feature of Performance Lab SPORT Protein.

It’s free of all those ingredients that experts say are bad for us. It’s also free of other ingredients that would be a deal breaker for certain diets. The list includes:

  • Non-dairy
  • Non-GMO
  • Gluten-free
  • No added caffeine
  • Soy-free
  • Allergen-free
  • No synthetic additives
  • Non-irradiated

This means that Performance Lab SPORT Protein is suitable for vegans, vegetarians, people on the Keto, Atkins, raw foods, Mediterranean, or Zone diets, and even diabetics since there is only one gram of natural sugar.

To make it even better, it’s manufactured in a Good Manufacturing Practices certified facility (GMP Certified) so you can rest assured that the quality is at the top of its game.

Made with Oryzatein®

There are rice proteins, and then there is Oryzatein®.

Oryzatein® is the cornerstone product of Axiom Foods, a company that has been manufacturing global plant proteins and ingredients since 2005.

Their rice protein stands out because it’s the first and only rice protein that has been clinically researched through trials, proven, and patented to help you:

It’s a great substitute for whey so people who eat a non-dairy diet can still benefit from the supplement.

In fact, it’s been proven to be equally as good.

It’s also been proven that the body can absorb Oryzatein® faster than whey.

In other words, any protein supplement using Oryzatein® is possibly superior to your typical whey protein supplements.

Probiotics and Essential Amino Acids

Oryzatein® isn’t the only stand out ingredient. Performance Lab SPORT Protein has a probiotic and all the essential amino acids.

Performance Lab SPORT Protein contains the probiotic Bacillus coagulans, also called B. coagulans.

This probiotic produces lactic acid and can withstand heat better than other types of probiotics. The result is a probiotic that aids in digestion and absorption rates.

The protein powder contains all nine of the essential amino acids due to Oryzatein®.

However, it contains a fair amount of leucine which is arguably the most important essential amino acid. Leucine aids in building muscle as well as muscle recovery.

Great Flavor

I must admit that Performance Lab SPORT Protein is lacking in flavors. They only have one – chocolate. It would be nice to have some different options.

With that being said, the chocolate flavor tastes surprisingly good. I’m not going to say it’s the absolute best tasting protein powder on the market, but that’s because a lot of other protein powders have artificial flavors and added sugars.

Performance Lab SPORT Protein does not have these things, so I’ll say that it’s the best tasting all-natural, sugar-free protein powder.

The protein powder is flavored with organic cocoa, vanilla bean, cinnamon, yacon root, monk fruit and stevia.

If you don’t like chocolate, this might be a deal breaker for you. If you do like chocolate, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Review #1 – Stephanie F.

Great Protein Powder

“This protein powder gave me the energy and nutrients I needed after a bariatric procedure, which required a liquid diet for several weeks. I’m about to make another purchase, as this is the perfect powder, low in sugar and carbs with a good flavor. Try it with frozen berries!”

Review #2 – Sinasi B.

Great protein

“Great product, mixes easily, easy to digest. The taste is OK but not the best I have tried. But it is definitely more natural vs a lot of protein powders on the market.”

Review #3 – Salma D.

My Favorite Protein

“Love the taste, blends really well, and is great post workout!”

Review #4 – Frank M.

Excellent product

“Excellent whey alternative. It worked well for me but is expensive relative to other vegan protein powders. It tastes good and isn’t gritty.”

Review #5 – Amina N.

It works for me!

“This is definitely my favorite protein. I like the text. I think It is as described. It doesn’t give me gas or diarrhea and it is not sweet my favorite part. I wish it comes in other flavor too because taking the same thing all the time can be boring and at some point you don’t want it anymore.”

Judee’s Brown Rice Protein

If organic doesn’t matter to you, you could consider Judee’s Brown Rice Protein powder.

it’s still GMO-free, gluten-free, soy-free, and all the other “frees” you can think of.

The biggest attraction is that compared to the others, it’s a budget-priced protein powder.

It does make a few sacrifices to be offered at this price point, such as being only 80% protein.

However, it’s nothing that’s a big deal breaker.

Nutribiotic Rice Protein

The Nutribiotic Rice Protein is great for people who want a low-calorie option.

It only has 60 calories per serving. It also comes in four flavors: vanilla, chocolate, mixed berry, or natural (no flavor).

It’s around the same price gram for gram as the Performance Lab SPORT Protein, but it has way less protein per serving.
